Miraa House was honoured to be nominated as the 2019 charity for the Nomads Golf Club Brisbane. This group of golfers rallied together and worked hard to fundraise through their annual fundraising golf day, held in May 2019. Leading up to the event, every member of the Nomads group was encouraged to sell raffle tickets – with a range of prizes up for grabs. With overwhelming support, teams were registered, and sponsors got on board. After a great day out on the course, it was time for the food, prize giving, raffles and auctions.
The generosity shown by everyone resulted in the Nomads raising a remarkable $22,000!! We are extremely grateful to the members of the Nomads Golf Club Brisbane for their dedication to this fundraiser and their continued support of Miraa House. Thank you to the Nomads Golf Club Brisbane for choosing Miraa House as your chosen charity for 2019 and thank you to each Nomad member for helping to make this event a great success.
Miraa House was overwhelmed by the support of one member of the community who took it upon herself to make a difference by raising money for a local charity. All it took was one visit to Miraa House and Donna Kent, from DDK Hair, was filled with enthusiasm, and she committed to a 90km fundraising walk. Over 2 days in July 2019, Donna set off along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail on a return trip from Fernvale to Esk. Donna was joined along the route by a team of ladies and the pace that they walked was admirable!!!
There was much laughter, many stories and friendships made along the way. As part of the fundraising event Donna collected a huge number of prizes for a raffle and arranged a lawn bowls event on the Sunday before the walk. Donna and her team were able to raise $7500! Donna is an inspiration to us all, she showed us how one person can make a difference. We would like to thank Donna and her team for their amazing efforts and for all their support of Miraa House.
